Potter Marsh Discovery Day Invites You to Get Outdoors on Saturday, June 8

(ANCHORAGE) – For a family-friendly day of nature-related games, birding, Bird TLC lectures featuring captive birds, animals from the Alaska Zoo, invertebrate sampling, a kid-friendly archery range, fly-fishing practice, release of a rehabilitated wild bald eagle and more, mark your calendar to attend Potter Marsh Discovery Day on Saturday, June 8.

Potter Marsh Discovery Day is sponsored by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game and other partners as part of the National Get Outdoors Day celebration. Beginning at 11 a.m. and running to 4 p.m., the Potter Marsh Discovery Day event takes place at the Potter Marsh boardwalk at Mile 117 of the Seward Highway approximately 1/2-mile south of the Rabbit Creek Road exit and across from the Rabbit Creek Rifle Range. The event is free of charge.

Potter Marsh Discovery Day sponsors include the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Alaska Geographic, Alaska Sea Life Center, Alaska Zoo, Anchorage Audubon, Anchorage Museum, Anchorage Waterways Council, Audubon Alaska, Bird TLC, Casting for Recovery, Ducks Unlimited, Friends of the Anchorage Coastal Wildlife Refuge, Municipality of Anchorage Parks and Recreation, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and U.S. Forest Service.

Situated at the southern end of the Anchorage Coastal Wildlife Refuge, Potter Marsh is famous for its diverse waterfowl viewing opportunities and is also home to raptors, including bald eagles and hawks, and to a variety of mammals ranging from muskrats to moose.
