All sport fish guiding businesses and individual sport fishing guides operating in Alaska waters must obtain a current annual registration. This registration applies to both freshwater and saltwater activities.

Registration Requirements

  • Separate Registrations: Both sport fish guiding businesses and individual sport fishing guides must register separately.
  • Exception: If the owner is also a guide or the sole guide for the business, they may register using a combination application or by registering the business dm themselves individually.

Registration Fees

  • No Fees: There are no fees for registering as a Sport Fishing Business Owner, Sport Fishing Guide, or a combined Sport Fishing Business Owner/Guide.

Exemptions

  • Assistants and Deckhands: Assistants, deckhands, and similar persons working directly under the supervision of, and on the same vessel as, a State of Alaska registered fishing guide are exempt from the guide registration requirements.
