Alaska Board of Game Extends Proposal Deadline, Expands Topics for 2016 Statewide Regulations Meeting

(Juneau) – The Alaska Board of Game has extended the deadline for proposed changes to statewide regulations pertaining to hunting, trapping and the use of game to 5:00 p.m., June 23, 2015. The board also expanded the Call for Proposals to include statewide changes to hunting seasons and bag limits for Dall sheep (5 AAC 85.055). These changes were made by the board during a teleconferenced meeting on Friday, April 24.

The statewide regulations specified on the Call for Proposals are those under 5 AAC Chapter 92 which include the general categories of permits, licenses, harvest tickets, tags and harvest reports, methods and means, possession, transportation and use of game, intensive management and predator control, definitions, emergency taking of game, in game management units.

In addition, the board will accept proposals to 5 AAC 98.005 concerning areas of jurisdiction for antlerless moose reauthorization, and statewide changes to 5 AAC 85.055 regarding hunting seasons and bag limits for Dall sheep. Proposals requesting changes specific to regions and game management units (except for boundary changes to game managements units under 5 AAC 92.450, and antlerless moose jurisdiction for advisory committees under 5 AAC 98.005) will not be accepted.

The board will consider all proposals fitting the Call for Proposals at the Statewide Regulations Meeting scheduled for March 18–28, 2016, in Fairbanks. Final proposals will be available on the board’s website in September.
