Reporting Requirements

  • Successful Hunters
    • Must return the completed hunt report to ADF&G in Ketchikan within 5 days of kill. Horn specimen required.
    • Specimens Required: Horns for measuring (attached to skull cap)
  • Unsuccessful Hunters
    Must return the completed hunt report to ADF&G in Ketchikan, or report online at hunt.alaska.gov, within 15 days of close of season.
  • Internet Reporting
    If you hunted unsuccessfully or did not hunt, you may report online at http://hunt.alaska.gov

Hunting Conditions

ELIGIBILITY:
-- You must be an Alaska resident.
-- Prior to hunting, you must complete the online Mountain Goat Identification Quiz (www.quiz.adfg.alaska.gov).

HUNT AREA (RG002): Remainder of Units 1A & 1B (as described below). Contact ADF&G in Ketchikan for current status of hunt zones.
-- Unit 1A,
- EXCEPT that portion of the Cleveland Peninsula south of the line between Yes Bay and Santa Anna Inlet (DG008 hunt area)
- EXCEPT that portion of Revillagigedo Island south of the line from the southern shoreline of Roosevelt Lagoon, Naha River and Heckman Lake to the inlet of Naha River into Heckman
Lake, then southeast along the valley to Salt Lagoon at the head of George Inlet (DG005 and DG006 hunt areas);
-- Unit 1B, south of the Bradfield Canal.

SEASON DATES: August 1 - December 31.

LEGAL ANIMAL: One goat of either sex; the taking of nannies with kids is prohibited.

IF YOU KILL A GOAT:
-- You must immediately validate your permit by cutting out the month and date of harvest.
-- You must report to ADF&G in Ketchikan in person within 5 days of kill to present your goat horns (with skull cap attached) and submit your completed hunt report.
-- If the goat you harvested using an RG002 permit was a billy, you may obtain a second RG002 permit from the ADF&G office in Ketchikan. If the goat you harvested using an RG002 permit
was a nanny, you may not receive a second RG002 permit.
-- If you receive a second RG002 permit, you may not hunt for goat in the same hunt zone where the first billy was harvested. (Hunt zone maps are available from ADF&G in Ketchikan.)
-- You may not receive more than two RG002 permits in any regulatory year.

IF YOU DO NOT KILL A GOAT, OR DO NOT HUNT: You must submit a completed hunt report to ADF&G, or report online at http://hunt.alaska.gov, within 15 days of close of season.

IF YOU FAIL TO REPORT AS REQUIRED: You will not be eligible to receive any permits the next regulatory year and you may face additional enforcement action.
