SNP III Workshop logo

Inspired by the previous two SNP workshops held in 2005 and 2006, sponsored by the Genetics Section* of the American Fisheries Society Section external link and Alaska Department of Fish and Game, among others, a third SNP workshop (SNP Workshop III: Applications of SNP Genotyping in Non-Model Organisms) was organized and held in Blaine, Washington, March 22-24, 2010. The workshop explored applications, SNP discovery, statistics, laboratory techniques, and reviewed case studies of SNPs for both fish and non-fish taxa with the aim of exchanging information between communities. Invited presentations included overviews and SNP applications from a variety of disciplines representing a diversity of non-model organisms. The Workshop was well attended with over 85 scientists from leading laboratories on five continents.
