Hunting Conditions
Nonresidents MAY NOT use a resident relative guide for RB089. An Alaska-licensed guide is required for a nonresident applying for RB089. Nonresidents hunting brown bear in Unit 4 accompanied by a resident relative guide must apply for a drawing permit during the drawing application period (November-December).
This permit is valid for taking one brown bear in Unit 4, Inside Drainages only, covered by Registration Hunt RB089 in accordance with the current Alaska Hunting Regulations and conditions described below:
1. By signing, the hunter acknowledges watching the brown bear identification video, "Take a Closer Look," viewable online at http://vimeo.com/30511231, or available for loan at ADF&G offices.
2. Season dates for RB089, Unit 4 Inside Drainages: March 15 - May 20.
3. Legal animal: One brown bear, except cubs or females accompanied by cubs.
4. Evidence of sex (penis sheath or vaginal opening) must remain naturally attached to hide until sealed.
5. The Northeast Chichagof Controlled Use Area is closed to the use of any motorized land vehicle for brown bear hunting. However, this prohibition does not apply to the transportation of brown bear hunters, their hunting gear, and/or parts of brown bears directly between the Hoonah Airport, Hoonah City Dock, and the Alaska Marine Highway ferry terminal.
6. Successful hunters must report their kill to ADF&G in Sitka or Douglas within 10 days of kill. Complete hunt reports must be returned to ADF&G, or submitted online at http://hunt.alaska.gov, by the time of sealing.
7. Unsuccessful hunters and permittees who did not hunt must return the completed hunt report to ADF&G, or report online at http://hunt.alaska.gov, within 15 days of close of season.
8. If you fail to report, you will not be eligible to receive any permits the next regulatory year. In addition, your name may be forwarded to the Alaska Wildlife Troopers for enforcement action.
