Tanana River Personal Use Salmon

This fishery occurs in the Tanana River drainage Subdistrict 6-C from the eastern edge of the mouth of the Wood River upstream to the eastern edge of the mouth of the Salcha River.

Participants catch king and chum salmon during July and early August, and chum and coho salmon from mid-August through September. A permit and sport fishing license are required, and both set gillnets and fishwheels are allowed. This fishery is accessed by boat from the Chena Pump landing near Fairbanks or from the Salcha River boat launch off the Richardson Highway.
