This includes practicing social distancing while sport and personal use fishing and wearing a face covering when fishing and if you are needing fishing supplies from your local store as indicated in Health Alert 010.
Emergency Orders
Please review the Emergency Orders and Advisory Announcements below in their entirety before heading out on your next fishing trip.
- Emergency Order 2-RS-5-32-20 increased the bag and possession limits for sockeye salmon to ten fish in all waters of the Alagnak, Naknek, Nushagak-Mulchatna, and Wood River drainages effective through 11:59 p.m. Thursday, December 31, 2020.
Freshwater Fishing
- Fishing for rainbow trout and Arctic grayling is reported to be good to great. Salmon are staging and spawning, egg patterns should be effective.
- Fishing for northern pike is reported to be good to excellent with fishing concentrated around weeded bays and sloughs.
- Fishing for king salmon in Bristol Bay is closed as of 12:01 am August 1.
- Fishing for sockeye salmon is poor and fishing should continue to taper off as the run is all but over. Bag and possession limits have been increased from 5 to 10 in the Alagnak, Naknek, Nushagak, and Wood drainages. See Emergency Order 2-RS-5-32-20.
- Fishing for coho salmon is reported as fair to good and fishing should remain steady over the next week.
Don’t forget to bring your 2020 sport fishing license! Help maximize social distancing and purchase your 2020 sport fishing license through the ADF&G online store and print it off from the comfort of your own home. Also, make sure to review Emergency Orders and the 2020 Southwest Sport Fishing Regulations Summary booklet for the area you are fishing before you head out.
