A portion of the Eklutna Tailrace from the confluence with the Knik River, up-stream to the pedestrian bridge, will be open for fishing only to anglers 15 years of age and younger on Saturday, August 16 from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The remainder of the tailrace will be open to fishing for anglers of all ages.
The bag and possession limit is three coho salmon 16 inches or longer and three in possession; the limit for coho salmon less than 16 inches is ten per day and ten in possession. All other sport fishing regulations for the Eklutna Tailrace, found on page 35 of the 2014 Southcentral Alaska Sport Fishing Regulations Summary Booklet, remain in effect.
The Eklutna Tailrace is located at mile 3.5 on the Old Glenn Highway.
Youth fisheries were established by the Alaska State Legislature and implemented by the Alaska Board of Fisheries to provide special opportunity for young people to catch fish.
